Reason Cesaro Has Been Booked The Way He Has, Update On His Future Plans

Apparently the reason Cesaro has been booked the way he has lately is by design. WWE initially planned on turning Cesaro baby face and giving him a big push, but instead opted to focus all of their efforts on Roman Reigns.

It is being said that the long-term plan for Cesaro is still to become a top baby face when all is said and done, however the company is apparently going to wait until Reigns is fully established as a top-tier solo act.

The basic mindset behind this decision is that when Reigns is finally established and it's time to develop a new "rising star," Cesaro will be the go-to guy.

WWE Mentions "7.14.14" While Hyping Tonight's RAW

WWE has posted a teaser photo on Instagram for tonight's RAW - with a mention of Sting's cryptic "7.14.14" date.

While this is hardly a confirmation of anything, WWE rarely includes the date of the show in their RAW preview photos on Instagram. The fact that they formatted it the same way as Sting's tweet has a lot of people buzzing that Sting will in fact have some sort of presence on tonight's show, most likely a pre-recorded promo video.

“Tonight’s 7.14.14 #Raw comes from Richmond, VA home of the state capital.”

Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar At WrestleMania 31?, Possible SummerSlam Spoiler

There continues to be talk within WWE that Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns will headline WrestleMania 31 next year. The belief is that Lesnar will defeat John Cena to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion at SummerSlam, building to the moment that he drops the belt to Reigns as Reigns' crowning moment as the new top baby face in the company.

While there has been no confirmation that Lesnar is defeating Cena at SummerSlam, the word going around is that it is going to be a big show and that September's Night Of Champions pay-per-view, which will also feature Lesnar, will be just as big to try and persuade people to renew their expiring six-month WWE Network subscriptions.

Burning Opinion : Hold the Reigns

Reigns current 5-14

Roman Reigns has all but been declared the next poster boy of the WWE. He has the look, lineage, move set, and style that the WWE loves. Seems like a home run right? I’m not so sure. I agree Reigns has all the potential to be a top star, but can we honestly say he is even the best member of The Shield? I can’t say that he is. In many ways, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose have carried Reigns during their run as the top faction in wrestling. Will Reigns be able to stand alone once he is on his own? That is the big question I have regarding Roman Reigns.

A perfect example of what I am talking about is this past “Monday Night Raw.” Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, and Dean Ambrose all cut promos. Ambrose and Rollins delivered arguably their best promo’s since being called up to the WWE main roster, Reigns, however, cut a pretty predictable and standard promo for him. If you watch Reigns’ promo’s he often gets a big pop when he first speaks, then the crowd dies down, towards the end he says a curse word, gets a cheap pop, and finishes by saying he is going to kick someone’s ass. Over the past month or so, all of his promo’s have followed this format. The June 9 edition of “Raw” was built around The Shield and Seth Rollins heel turn. The entire wrestling world’s eyes were on these three men, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose delivered and looked like stars, and to me, Roman Reigns fell a little short.

It also appears the WWE believes Reigns has some limitations in the ring as well. Whenever a member of The Shield has had a one-on-one match up, they choose Rollins or Ambrose. The reason behind this is Reigns is limited in the ring. Now, I am not saying Reigns is terrible in the ring. I actually enjoy his work in the ring, but his work thus far has been limited. He’s been used to get that hot tag and hit a few signature moves, but not carry a match. He is obviously incredibly athletic and can connect with the crowd, but is he able to work a singles match for 20 minutes and keep the crowd captivated? At this point I can’t say that he can, and by WWE’s lack of showcasing his talents in a one-on-one setting, they are giving the impression that they agree.

What I want to see from Roman Reigns is growth and development. Take some risks with your character, don’t be afraid to try something different. To his credit Reigns has come a long way since he first debuted with The Shield at “Survivor Series” in Nov. 2012. His skills both in the ring and on the microphone have strengthened tremendously, but he is about to pushed in the main event picture. There is talk of him headlining “Wrestlemania 31.” If the WWE Network did not exist, would you pay to $70.00 to see him in the main event? Some might, but it would not be the draw they need. I need to see Reigns be able to stand on his own. I need him to wrestle great matches on his own, where he is not being used just to hit a few big moves. Now, possibly more than ever, fans crave great wrestling matches. Guys like Daniel Bryan, Sami Zayn, and Cesaro have gotten over based how great they are in the ring. Reigns needs to show that he is capable of having these quality matches, or over time he will fall from from the main event.

The WWE is in a unique point in the company. Top stars like John Cena, CM Punk, Triple H, Randy Orton, and Batista are either gone from the company or do not have many years left. The company is making an effort to build new stars. They have targeted Reigns as one of these people, but with the young talent WWE has right now, there is not much room for failure. If Reigns stumbles at all on his own a guy like Sami Zayn, Adrian Neville, Bo Dallas, Tyler Breeze, Cesaro, Rusev, Big E, Wade Barrett, or numerous others will be waiting for their chance at being the top guy in the company. Open competition is a great thing, hopefully Roman Reigns will feed off of this competition and rise to the top.

As I mentioned earlier, Roman Reigns appears to have all the tools to be a top star in the wrestling business. He has a great family lineage, appealing look, great build, charisma, and athleticism. Many have already dubbed him the next big star, or heir apparent to John Cena as carrying the company. I think he could get there, but he needs to continue to develop in the ring and on the microphone. If he can, we could have the next Rock or Stone Cold, however, if he is not able to show he can become a strong singles competitor, we could look be looking a guy who falls from the top quickly. Time will tell, but hopefully he will show the world why we should Believe in Roman Reigns.

Roman Reigns, you have been Burned!

Wrestlemania 31: Roman Reigns Vs. ?

rrvsbl2While we are only through two “Special Events” after Wrestlemania 30, I’ve read a few articles that had me thinking about Wrestlemania 31. I know there are plenty of articles that have been written about Roman Reigns already, but with The Shield on the path toward splitting up entirely I was thinking about who Roman could face at Wrestlemania 31 to give him an early career Wrestlemania moment. While one of the three men is already set up for a match with a different Superstar, I still thought it would be fun to entertain the idea of the match. So without further ado, here are three men that I believe should be the options to face Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania.

The first Superstar that comes to mind as a legitimate opponent for Roman to face is Brock Lesnar. Two tough SOB’s duking it out on the grandest stage of them all. While some would be for the match and some would be against it, I think this would be a huge match that would make Roman look like a complete animal if he were to go over. Brock is a guy who is riding the biggest wave in wrestling history and any person who can take him down gets a major rub as well. These two have not met due to the fact that Brock’s schedule is very light and Roman hasn’t been a singles Superstar except for a few matches here and there. Roman would have to enhance his mic work for this feud to work because Paul Heyman will eat you alive if you can’t fire back at him. My only hesitation with this feud is that I’m not sure what reason Brock or Roman would have to face each other. Considering Brock is the bigger Superstar of the two, the best way that I could see Roman going after him is to come out and say he wants to take down the best. Take down the man who took down a legend. The Shield is the only other group that made the Undertaker disappear for an extended period of time. Roman thinks they’re equals, Brock and Heyman don’t, commence feud.

rockandromanThe next Superstar on the list would be Goldberg. Bill has been talking for the past year now about having one more match so his kid could see him wrestle, and not just on the WWE Network. He’s denied it on Twitter but he did in fact talk about working a match at WM30. Now, I’ve been thinking about this feud for a while and Roman would be a great opponent for Goldberg. He’s more legitimate than Ryback is, and he uses one move that Goldberg also used to, the Spear. Goldberg may have not been the best in ring technician but Roman has come so far that he could help carry the match and give it that big match feel. I would use the fact that Roman uses the Spear to start the feud. Goldberg would come back and say he’s seen Roman using the Spear for a while now without ever giving credit that he stole the move from Goldberg. Roman being the tough guy he is, says that he didn’t steal it, he does it better. I could only imagine the match, when these guys go to Spear each other. They would both counter it at first to help build the drama, the old guy outsmarting the young gun and the young gun being too quick for the old guy. Goldberg would finally hit it and Roman would kick out much to Goldberg’s surprise, and then Roman would finally hit it for the win. Although this match may never happen, it was a fun one to think about.

The final Superstar that I feel would be the best option, and credit goes to my fellow writer Mark Moore for mentioning the match in his article “Roman Will Reign”, is The Rock. What better way for Rock to finish off his in-ring career than by putting over one of his family members. I feel like this is the perfect scenario in that everybody wins. Roman gets a huge rub from one of the greatest Superstars ever, Rock gets to put over family and the fans don’t have to watch Rock vs. Cena III. I feel like this match would get a great reception from the crowd because it’s never been done before and the fans would know that Rock wouldn’t be going over. This is another situation where Roman would have to have his mic skills at their peak because The Rock can adlib and still pull out some great work. I feel like there’s no reason that this match wouldn’t work and since The Rock didn’t work WM30 like he intended to early on, he could close out his career against his cousin and proceed with his induction into the WWE Hall of Fame.

While Jim Ross has said that he sees Roman as the WWE Champion after Wrestlemania 31, I don’t quite think he’ll be there. He should still get a great Wrestlemania moment and what better way than facing one of these three men. What do you guys think? Do you agree or is there someone else that is more deserving of facing Roman? Sound Off Below!!!

Will The Shield Get A New Member?, Notes On Seth Rollins' New Ring Gear

Many have asked what ring gear Seth Rollins will wear now that he is no longer a part of The Shield faction, meaning him wearing the Shield-like vest is not an option. Apparently the discussion of what Rollins' ring-gear will be has been a big topic of discussion among WWE officials since the decision was made to turn him heel and separate him from the group.

Additionally, it's being said that Rollins is not going to be a member of the Evolution faction, as it appears that the Evolution faction -- with Batista out of the picture -- may no longer be around.

For those wondering, it also appears that there are no plans to replace Rollins and add a third member to The Shield group, despite much speculation and a WWE.com article that hyped potential replacements.

Backstage Update Regarding The Idea To Turn Seth Rollins Against The Shield

The Seth Rollins heel turn against The Shield was absolutely a last-minute decision made by WWE. While there were many moving parts in the situation, and many hints that led many to believe that if anyone were to turn, it would be Dean Ambrose, it's being said that an Ambrose heel turn changed to a Rollins turn is not the case.

Basically put, it's not like there were plans to turn Ambrose, but at the last minute the company decided to go with Rollins instead. The idea to turn Rollins was a last-minute decision, and had nothing to do regarding whether or not Ambrose should be the guy -- if any -- to turn on the faction.

What Happened After Tuesday's SmackDown Tapings, Dark Matches

<-----Winner - Loser ----->
The dark match before Tuesday night’s WWE TV tapings saw Natalya defeat Rosa Mendes.

- The dark match in between Main Event and the SmackDown tapings saw Los Matadores defeat Ryback and Curtis Axel after El Torito distracted Ryback.

-----> Winners :D

Losers  ------>   ;)

- After the SmackDown tapings concluded, Bray Wyatt called Seth Rollins to the ring. It looked like they were going to start fighting, but instead they attacked Dean Ambrose, who was still in the ring following the Wyatt vs. Ambrose SmackDown main event.

Roman Reigns, Sheamus, Luke Harper and The Usos then hit the ring and a huge brawl broke out. Reigns and Ambrose both grabbed steel chairs and went after Seth Rollins as the ring cleared out. The night ended with Reigns and Ambrose playing to the crowd.
