Kurt Angle Discusses CM Punk Departure, Him Being Negative On Part Time Wrestlers

kurt angleKurt Angle was a recent guest on Jim Ross’ Ross Report podcast, where they talk about CM Punk leaving WWE earlier this year. Listen to the interview here.
Angle, who is still currently with TNA, said that he respected Punk’s decision to walk away, and gave his insight on why he thought Punk left WWE.
Ross and Angle both disagree with observers who feel like Punk owed them some sort of farewell.
“I didn’t know he was that banged up,” Angle said. I have to respect the fact that he walked away, whether he comes back or not. The rumor as that he was upset with booking, and he’s upset with these part-timers coming in, and taking the main event spots at WrestleMania.”
Angle stated that if the main reason behind Punk’s departure was because of his injury, he said he couldn’t have respected him more for the decision. He also wanted to call Punk and tell him that there is going to be a time where Punk could go to being a part-timer.
Angle feels like there would have been many more times where CM Punk could have headlined WrestleMania and it was not always going to be headlined by part-time wrestlers.
Isenberg: The rumors of CM Punk leaving WWE after Royal Rumble in Pittsburgh had to deal with the fact that Batista won the match and would headline WrestleMania over him. Dating back to 2013, Punk dropped the title to The Rock, which makes it two years in a row that he was forced to give up his spot to a part time guy.

CM Punk to Appear on Nerdist Podcast, WWE Scraps Diva’s Brief Run with New Gimmick, Zayn Talks KENTA in WWE

CM Punk to Appear on Nerdist Podcast

Chris Harwick of Nerdist.com has noted on Twitter that CM Punk will be one of his guests on the Nerdist Podcast Live! show taking place in San Diego on July 26th at 10:30pm. Tickets for the event are already sold out.

WWE Scraps Diva’s Brief Run with New Gimmick

According to The Wrestling Observer, WWE has dropped Alicia Fox’s tantrum gimmick, which saw her “lose it” after match defeats and react oddly in front of the live crowd. The gimmick had people buzzing for awhile, but for whatever reason WWE has decided to drop it.

Zayn Talks KENTA in WWE

WWE NXT standout Sami Zayn was interviewed by Brian Fritz of BetweentheRopes.com at an Anti-Bullying rally in Orlando this week, and the following is what Zayn had to say regarding KENTA’s in WWE:
“I’m very excited. There’s a lot of good talent coming in, a lot of my kind of guys, world traveled, workrate, nose to the grindstone, gritty sort of passionate guys, which is what I personally believe in. Its great to see these guys get an opportunity. KENTA’s just been busting his butt for so long and killing it for so long. Its great to see him get an opportunity like this. I am really looking forward to hopefully wrestling him because I actually never have. I was supposed to wrestle him once, but he went down with a knee injury. I teamed with him a couple of times, but I’ve never actually had a one on one match with him. I look forward to that opportunity.”

Hulk Hogan Guest Hosting Raw Next Month, More WWE Cuts Likely Being Made, Punk Merchandise

Punk Merchandise

Earlier today CM Punk’s merchandise was temporarily removed from WWE’s Shop website, but it has since been added back.

More WWE Cuts Likely

As we reported earlier, WWE budget cuts are now beginning to take their toll on the WWE production crew, and PWInsider.com reports more WWE cuts might have been made within the past week, and we could be receiving confirmation of a departure very soon.
A source within WWE recently noted a directive was issued to all department heads across the company to make cuts.

Hulk Hogan Guest Hosting Raw Next Month

The official Twitter feed of The Moda Center, the site of WWE Raw on August 11th, which is the final Raw before SummerSlam, posted the following:

Will There Be Another CM Punk?

09_cmpunk_milestone_011
No. But, for the sake of discussion, let’s humor ourselves for a moment. According to reports, CM Punk’s WWE contract expired on July 15th, ending speculation of a return for the time being. Punk has been rather silent since his sudden departure, but took to Twitter on Tuesday to make a statement on his career.  WWE.com also moved Punk to the alumni section.
“Nope, thank YOU.Thanks for all the help and support through the years. Health and happiness above all. Don’t ever take any shit from anybody.” – CM Punk
Catchphrase or not, CM Punk’s legacy cements him as one of the best in the world. He paved the way for undersized and unorthodox wrestlers to climb the corporate ladder WWE places in front of their superstars. He showed us that you don’t have to look like The Rock, or sell kid-friendly merchandise like John Cena to become relevant in World Wrestling Entertainment. Punk laughed in the face of a traditional in-ring style, with a move-set ranging from a top rope elbow to the Anaconda Vice submission hold. He didn’t have “the look”, or the traditional “it factor”, but he had something. The straight-edged, sarcastic superstar is quite possibly the most unique WWE performer in history. CM Punk gave the industry something different; there isn’t a fair comparison to a wrestler of the past, but people will attempt to compare him to wrestlers of the future. The question is already being asked: will we see another CM Punk? The answer is ‘no’, but maybe someone else will give us something different like he once did.
Before CM Punk, Edge was main eventing against WWE’s traditional, heavy hitting, muscular superstars on magazine covers. Although the two don’t share much else in common, Edge created a slot that made it believable for alternative styles and sizes to fight in main events. Edge made us believe that a fast-talking, slimmer performer could beat up Batista or The Undertaker. His promos weren’t traditional wrestling promos; they felt a bit closer to being “real”. Edge was the first of his kind. In that sense, CM Punk became the next Edge, but he took the spot to another planet and made it his own. The takeaway is that we will never see another Edge, and we’ll never see another CM Punk. For the crop of superstars we’re trying to compare to CM Punk – it’s not about if they’ll become him. The question should be if they can learn from him and create their own spot like he once did.
Seth Rollins has often been compared to CM Punk, and it’s easy to see the similarities. Both have an indy style in the ring, and even share somewhat of a physical likeness. Like Punk before him, Rollins won the Money in the Bank ladder match, giving him a championship match at a time of his choosing. Also like Punk, many question if Rollins is ready to take that step. WWE certainly did not think CM Punk was ready the first time he cashed in, giving him one of the most lackluster title reigns in the last decade. By that logic, they’re similar. You can almost see WWE positioning Rollins into the CM Punk vacancy, but it may not be the right call. If Rollins is to become the controversial heel we can’t help but cheer, he probably shouldn’t have sided with The Authority (Punk never sided with authority figures, even in the depths of his best heel work). Rollins, while a solid talker, does not have the same grab to his personality to create something we’ve never seen. One could argue that of the three former Shield members, Dean Ambrose actually has the personality chops to match CM Punk, not Rollins. Ambrose’s ring style doesn’t equally compare, but his “lunatic fringe” has similarities to “voice of the voiceless” that was so cool with Punk. Lunatic Fringe, by the way, should already be on t-shirts.
Searching elsewhere, KENTA made his WWE commitment official last week, signing a contract to come over and get started in NXT. If you’re familiar with KENTA’s resume, you know that many say he invented the GTS, and Punk adopted it as his finisher. Whether it’s copying, borrowing, or learning, CM Punk’s in-ring style compares nicely to KENTA’s. The Japanese import, however, has other challenges. He’ll have to break through a language barrier to come anywhere near Punk on the mic. It’s conceivable that KENTA gets paired with someone like Paul Heyman to do his talking, or maybe he won’t talk at all. Maybe an absolute badass in the ring that does not say a single word will get over like we’ve never seen before. The opportunity exists for KENTA to be something unique, but he’s a long ways away. The same could be said for the rumored arrivals of Kevin Steen and Prince Devitt. They’ve created Punk-ish buzz on the independent scene, leaving WWE as their only mountain left to climb. Time will have to tell; after all, CM Punk did not happen overnight.
It’s not fair to Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose or KENTA to receive CM Punk comparisons. There will never be another voice of the voiceless, or best in the world. There won’t be a superstar that sits cross-legged on the ramp and drops a pipe bomb. Nobody will ask us if they have our attention now. The most we can hope for is a unique superstar that has learned something from CM Punk. In ten years, hopefully we’ll be asking if we’ll ever see another….

Update On CM Punk's Future: Contract Expired, Can He Use "CM Punk" Name?

CM Punk's contract with WWE is now officially expired, meaning that he is now able to negotiating deals for business ventures unrelated to WWE.

Due to the fact that Punk had prior usage of the "CM Punk" name prior to joining WWE, it is believed that he will have the rights to the name for any entertainment ventures.

As noted earlier this week, Punk is teasing that he is starting either a podcast or a band, or both.

Kurt Angle Talks About Returning To WWE, CM Punk, His Recovery & More

Part 2 of Jim Ross' Ross Report interview with wrestling legend Kurt Angle is now online atPodcastOne.com. This week, Angle spoke extensively about his desire to return to WWE.

Angle said he's absolutely interested in a possible WWE return. He's currently in a tough spot, because he wants job security and TNA has treated him very well so far. Due to his TNA contract, he's unable to approach WWE about returning. He can't speak to Vince, Stephanie or Triple H. If he waits out his contract and then approaches WWE, he runs the risk of them not He's always said he wants to finish his career with WWE. At the same time, the past year has been a roller coaster ride for him.

He has a great relationship with Dixie Carter, who has always treated him right. However, there have been times over the past year he's wanted out, even though things are getting better lately. He wants to help TNA, but he also wants to see what WWE has to say.

Jim Ross said he met the Carter family once and he's never met nicer people than Bob and Janice Carter. Angle agreed they are wonderful, supportive people and said Bob and Janice are now a lot more hands-on with TNA.

JR asked Angle if WWE's Wellness program and medical testing would be an issue for him. Angle said no, not at this point. A year ago, yes. He was on a lot of pain killers, Xanax and was abusing alcohol. He got himself in a lot of trouble and it was time to get clean. He's been sober for almost 11 months and is much happier, clear minded and is now listening to his body. He's heard rumors that "he can't pass a physical" but that would be no problem at all. His neck is fine, he'll bounce back from his recent knee surgery. He'll be just fine and can pass any physical.

If he does go to WWE, Angle said it's about proving himself. He believes Vince, Stephanie, and Triple H will want to see that he's cleaned his life up. He left on "bittersweet" terms and was reckless during his last WWE run. He was taking painkillers and "other stuff." At the time, he blamed Vince McMahon for not trusting him to be the face of WWE. Now that he's clean and sober, he knows that he's the one that messed up a real good thing. If he does go back, he'll have to make amends with Vince so they can move forward.

Angle said he loves WWE's strict drug testing, which he thinks is great for everybody. He's part of WWE's rehab program, goes to AA meetings several times a week and is staying true to his recovery.

JR added that if Angle commits himself to recovery the way that he did with wrestling, he'll be just fine.
Angle admitted that he was a failure as a father and a husband when he was using. He didn't care about anything except pills, alcohol and wrestling. After Angle's multiple DUI arrests, JR feared that Angle would be the next guy to have a "bad ending."

If he returns to WWE, there's a lot of great talent Angle wants to work with. He didn't watch for a few years and didn't think they had a great roster, but now he sees that they do . If there's one person in WWE he could work with, it would be Daniel Bryan. If CM Punk ever returns, he thinks they could have great matches as well. He named Roman Reigns, Cesaro, Rusev and Brock Lesnar as guys he'd also like to work with. He talked about always wanting to wrestle The Undertaker at WrestleMania, but realizes that ship has sailed. WWE has a lot of guys he can help out and teach. He now watches WWE & TNA television every week and still loves the business.

They both put over AJ Styles as a tremendous talent and JR said WWE missed the boat with him.

Angle was asked about Brock Lesnar ending The Undertaker's streak. Angle was very surprised by the ending, but said Brock Lesnar was the right guy to do it.

JR asked Angle if he can relate to CM Punk leaving WWE. Angle said he has to respect Punk's decision, but he shouldn't burn that bridge. There's going to come a time when CM Punk could be a part time guy like The Rock who wrestles for big paydays and Punk should consider that opportunity if it arises.

Jim Ross Blog: CM Punk/WWE, Sting Commercial, Reigns/Cena, Ambrose & More

The following are highlights from the latest Jim Ross blog:

On WWE's depth issues: "WWE's depth issues are easily identified when so many top, top stars are seen on the show in front of the live audience multiple times. We live in unique times as it relates to being not only a wrestling fan but a talent as well. Never in my recollection has the landscape been more conducive for someone to break though and soar to the top of a card than now. That speaks to the overall depth issues within the business in general. Secondly, it's never been more challenging to be in the biz as there are simply too few places that one can work full time and earn a good living. It's the old, double edge sword conundrum as in damn if you do and damn if you don't."

On the dynamic between John Cena and Roman Reigns on RAW: "I enjoyed the Cena-Reigns dynamic throughout the broadcast as both men walked a fine line but one can easily see that a personal issue could develop between the two quite easily although I somewhat doubt that it would be a long term one considering that WWE needs both men to be fan favorites. Nonetheless they have noticeable chemistry together which interests me."
On Dean Ambrose: "Dean Ambrose took a fine, restaurant quality ass whipping early in the show. Heroes who don't quit and show no fear while selling thoroughly usually get themselves over. Ambrose is."

On CM Punk commercials during RAW: "The CM Punk promotional material for the WWE Network is a good way to create interest and sell subscriptions for the Network and I don't think it means any thing more than that which is merely my speculation and not based on any 'inside' knowledge."

On the Sting/WWE 2K15 commercial: "Great video done by 2K Sports to promote @Sting as a player on their upcoming, WWE video game. Sting will be available if one pre orders the game as I understand it. Does this mean that Sting will be wrestling in WWE? It's not a lock whatsoever and I'd suggest it is a long shot but things can always change. I'd love to see Sting have a WrestleMania moment in his career but I'll admit that I'm biased.
"Sting will be a guest on my podcast on July 29 of which we've already taped and it's a great conversation."

WWE Tells Staff Not To Mention CM Punk, Paul Heyman Documentary Video Clip

- In a new WWE-produced video looking at Money In The Bank match statistics, similar to those that are done for Royal Rumble statistics, word was brought down from above not to mention or acknowledge CM Punk. Many found this interesting, as Punk has not only won the match, but cashed in to win the championship on multiple occasions.

- WWE recently added a video preview of the new "Ladies and Gentlemen, My Name is Paul Heyman" DVD to their official YouTube channel.

WWE Takes Another Jab At CM Punk, Notes On WWE Tryout Camp This Week

- WWE is holding a tryout camp for potential future Divas at the Performance Center in Orlando, Florida this week. The word going around is that most of the women trying out are models that have been specifically recruited, and are not experienced female wrestlers.

- WWE recently pinned an article regarding Superstars who quit to the official Facebook page of CM Punk. In the latest subtle social media jab, WWE has used Punk's Facebook page to promote an article regarding Superstars who "sold out." The title of the post reads, "SUPERSTARS WHO SOLD OUT and broke our hearts in the process!!!!"

5 Swerves WWE Could Pull At Money In The Bank

WWE.com

Daniel Bryan’s neck surgery threw a huge monkey wrench in WWE’s plans for his future as well as the Money in the Bank pay-per-view. The extent of Bryan’s injury was unknown before June, which was why WWE decided to keep the title on Bryan and forgo having a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at Payback. They know that Bryan will be out longer than expected, and because of that we have seen Daniel Bryan officially stripped of the title.

Now the annual Money in the Bank match will be for the title rather than a briefcase guaranteeing a title shot whenever the holder of the case chooses. This changes everything. The MITB match has always been unpredictable because we never quite knew if WWE would give the case to an established star or if someone new to the title scene would emerge victorious.

The idea of having two ladder matches has been proposed, one for the title and one for a title shot, but no progress has been made on that front, so for now we have to assume that we will only have the one match that is currently planned out. This gives WWE the chance to pull a major swerve on everyone. This slideshow will look at some of the ways WWE could completely shock fans at this year’s Money in the Bank.

5. Triple H Puts Himself In The Match

WWE.com
Triple H has been very involved on WWE television in recent months, which is a big change from the diminished role he had taken to focus on his backstage duties. Having an increased presence opens the possibility that Triple H will up his title count to 14. Considering how Triple H inserted himself into the title picture at WrestleMania, it is not out of the question for him to do the same thing here to up the ante and make things more interesting. This doesn’t necessarily mean Triple H will win the title, but WWE may see value in Trips taking the belts only to lose them back to Daniel Bryan upon his return.

Regardless of how some fans feel about Triple H’s motives and ego, there is no denying that he puts butts in seats and makes things a lot more interesting by being involved. He is willing to take big risks for the sake of the show, making his inclusion in the ladder match a real possibility. He has been in ladder matches before and he has always delivered an entertaining and brutal performance.

What would make this an even bigger swerve would be Triple H announcing his participation in the match at the last second, but having the announcement take place on the final Raw before the PPV would create more interest in the event and possibly get more people to tune in, and let’s face it, WWE needs people to watch now more than ever.

4. Brock Lesnar Returns

WWE.com
Paul Heyman has been pretty clear about Brock Lesnar’s intentions to eventually win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, and Money in the Bank may be the perfect time for that to happen. The possible storylines WWE could get out of it are abundant, but the biggest payoff would be a match between Lesnar and Bryan at SummerSlam.

Not only does Lesnar winning the title at Money in the Bank save WWE from having to make Bryan drop the title to him, but it gives them the chance to build Bryan up as the underdog just like they did at WrestleMania. Beating Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista in the same night at WrestleMania was huge, but defeating the guy who broke Undertaker’s streak may be even bigger.

Eddie Guerrero won the WWE title from Lesnar in 2004. Guerrero’s win would have been a big deal no matter who he was facing, but Lesnar being the man to put him over made it that much more special. Lesnar is a beast who not only has wrestling ability, but genuine fighting skills. His image makes him appear nearly unbeatable, and having him be the person who Bryan triumphantly wins the title from would create yet another highlight reel moment for Bryan’s eventual Hall of Fame induction.

3. Daniel Bryan Steals The Title

WWE.com
Just because Daniel Bryan is not able to compete at MITB in an official capacity does not necessarily mean he won’t be involved. Imagine the kind of pop Bryan would get if he appeared during the match, and then imagine how much louder it would be if he stole the title belts to get revenge for being stripped of the title.

Brie Bella quit WWE to protect Bryan’s title reign, but that was apparently all for nothing since he was stripped of the title anyway. Bryan would be understandably pissed off at the situation. His wife is without a job, he’s injured and he was forced to give up his title. This storyline is just waiting for some kind of big retribution angle. Bryan popping out of the crowd, climbing a ladder while everyone else is incapacitated and taking down the belts before retreating into the crowd would be a memorable moment for everyone watching.

WWE has done angles where people steal titles before, but never quite like this. It would allow WWE to keep the program going through Battleground and set up something much bigger for SummerSlam.

2. CM Punk Returns To Win The Title

WWE.com
This is the most unlikely scenario on the list since CM Punk has said he is retired in a few interviews, but he is still technically with the company. WWE is probably letting his contract expire so they do not have to make an announcement that he is officially gone; But what if this was all an angle for Punk to make a surprise return?

The longer we go without seeing Punk, the less likely a return to WWE seems. However, this means that his return to WWE would be an even bigger deal. The reaction Punk would receive from the crowd would be deafening and an actual title win upon his return would bring about a feud everyone has been yearning for.

Punk and Bryan have had matches in WWE before, even for the title, but there was never really a major feud built around the two of them. If there was a way for WWE to shock everyone and create one of the most memorable moments in the company’s history, this is it. It probably won’t happen, but there would be few fans who could argue how awesome it would be.

1. Two Different People Pull Down The Titles At The Same Time

WWE.com
One championship will be suspended above the ring, but it’s still two belts. WWE easily could have dropped the big gold belt and kept the newest WWE title belt as the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, but they haven’t. They either believe that keeping both belts ups the level of prestige or they have always planned on separating them back into two separate titles eventually.

Even if WWE still intends on keeping one top title, having two people each pull down one of the belts at the same time would create an opportunity for an original storyline with a lot of possible outcomes. Not only does it give WWE another match to re-unify the titles at Battleground, but it allows two Superstars to walk out of MITB with a major boost.

Any of these ideas would give WWE the chance to surprise viewers, which doesn’t happen that often anymore. In a world where the average fan can predict most of the outcomes, it would be nice to have a swerve that doesn’t include The Undertaker losing to Brock Lesnar.

BACKSTAGE NEWS: AJ LEE’S TIME OFF + SD TIME CHANGES?

– The word several weeks ago was that WWE Diva AJ Lee took time off to plan her wedding to CM Punk. For what it’s worth, she asked for time off before CM Punk proposed to her so the timing worked out good. According to sources, she didn’t ask for time off originally to plan the wedding. There is no word as of this writing on when she will be returning.

– Beginning in August when WWE has several shows in California, all West Coast WWE SmackDown tapings will be be starting at 4:45PM. The reason for the change is due to WWE Main Event airing LIVE on the WWE Network. This means that when they are on the West Coast, WWE Main Event will air at 5PM Pacific time/8EST Eastern time.

Vince McMahon Could Renew CM Punk’s Contract in July

Vince McMahon CM Punk

Vince McMahon could renew CM Punk’s contract in July. The latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided some new information regarding a clause that exists in every WWE contract that would allow the company to automatically renew any superstars contract upon expiration.

The only known case of WWE executives renewing a superstar’s contract without the superstar signing an extension, or a brand new deal all together, was the recent renewal of Rey Mysterio’s WWE deal. McMahon reportedly renewed Mysterio’s contract for another year due to Mysterio’s time off while healing from injuries.

According to reports, McMahon feels as if Mysterio owes the company more time since he has spent so much of his latest contract off recovering from multiple ailments. Currently, Mysterio is rehabilitating from a injured hand, but he also had surgery on his knee in June of 2013 which kept him off WWE TV for almost eight months.

Mysterio was not expected to renew his WWE contract upon the deal coming to an end this month, but WWE renewed it anyway. With Punk’s contract coming to an end in July, McMahon could renew his deal as well.

Whether or not Punk would actually come back to work if his contract was renewed is left to be seen. However, if WWE renews his contract, it would keep him from working anywhere else.

Punk has not appeared on WWE programming since January’s “Royal Rumble” PPV, but has been mentioned a couple of times when WWE events have taken place in his home town of Chicago. The most recent comments made in regards to Punk were made by Paul Heyman and Stephanie McMahon during the June 1 “Payback” event, where McMahon made mention to Punk “quitting” the company.

Punk himself has recently been labeled as a “retired” wrestler by a former girlfriend. He confirmed this claim in a recent interview, and is set to marry former WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee in June 2014.

Steve Austin Interview: Wrestling Again, CM Punk, Who Has The Most Potential

WWE Hall of Famer "Stone Cold" Steve Austin recently appeared on Ring Rust Radio with Donald Wood. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

His Podcast: "Well, you know, it’s interesting. Asking people questions, carrying on conversations, you certainly develop a rhythm and a style. I learned early on that one of the mistakes I was making early on was trying to cram too much stuff in an interview. I’d talk to guys who had 20- to 40-year careers and try to condense that into a two-hour session, and it just doesn’t happen like that. So now, I just have bullet points and we start talking and it ends up just being a conversation. I don’t paint by numbers anymore. I just go by how I feel and try to take the conversation in different places and just go with the flow."

"It has been an interesting transition. I enjoy doing it. It allows me to use some of the creative energy that I put into Monday Night Raw way back in the day and it gives me a way to maintain communication with my fanbase and to just simply and purely entertain them. I don’t talk about religion, politics, none of that bulls–t; it’s just audio whoop-ass for the working man and the working woman to take their mind off the task at hand."

Who He Wants To Appear On His Podcast: "I’d like to talk to Hulk Hogan, of course, because he’s one of the biggest names in the history of the business, if not the biggest. So, obviously I’d like to talk to Hogan. “Superstar” Billy Graham. I’d like to talk to Dusty Rhodes face-to-face, in person. I had a chance to talk to him on the phone in the early stages like some of the people who I’ve already interviewed. It’s always different talking to someone on the phone, of course. I’ve talked to Bret “The Hitman” Hart and Shawn Michaels on the phone, but a one-on-one conversation is the best."

"I talked to [Mark "The Undertaker" Calaway]. I asked him if he wanted to do the show; he said he would, and that’s a matter of me getting out to Austin, Texas, and talking to him one on one, but he’s another one I’d love to talk to."

If He Will Be Part Of The New Tough Enough: "I’d certainly be open to it, but I get my Google Alerts and I read that they were bringing back Tough Enough, but then there have been delays in it. I would consider doing something along the lines of Tough Enough because that was my first endeavor into reality television and that is a world I know and love, and that’s why I was on that show. I’m not going to blow smoke up my ass. I love the business of pro wrestling and it is something I know better than anything else I know about. So if I get a chance to do that show or they offer that spot to me and we could make it work, I’d love to do that show."

His New Show, Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Ranch Challenge: "The thing about the Broken Skull Challenge is that there’s really nothing else like it on television. I was talking on some interviews the other day that kind of brought up American Ninja Warrior, but that kind of plays more to the parkour-type athlete and crossfitting as well. Those men and women that do American Ninja Warrior are badass in their right, no doubt about that. They’re badass. But they’re competing on a course and competing against the clock.

At the Broken Skull Challenge, each week I bring participants to the ranch. We did 10 episodes—five episodes with guys, five with gals. It’s head-to-head competition for three rounds, and if you win, you go to the next round. If you lose, you leave the ranch immediately.

At the end of the day, we narrow it down from eight to one individual, and that individual will take on my personal obstacle course. It’s a half-mile course, 10 badass obstacles that you must overcome.

I made my course the skullbuster because it is specifically designed to whoop a man’s ass. You beat my course, I’ll give you $10,000. If someone has already beaten my course and you beat their time, I give you $10,000 and you will be my returning champion, and until someone beats your time, you will get that $10,000.

It’s nothing fancy; it’s down and dirty and you need strength, stamina, determination, will power, a lot of heart and determination to beat my course and to win and succeed at my competition. It’s badass and we had some hellacious athletes come out to the ranch. On Redneck Island, a show I love, there was a lot of drama and storylines going on because someone’s always voted off the island through process of elimination. Here your fate is in your own hands. I set the stage for these athletes to come out here and put on the best performance of their lives or they have to go home—simple as that."

If He Will Ever Wrestle Again: "I’d consider anything if the perfect situation or opportunity arose and it would be more than a million-dollar question. I don’t want to sit here and promote a match, sell a match or talk about making a comeback. The dirt sheets, or whatever you call them, and I talk to Dave Meltzer and Wade Keller all the time and they’re nice guys and I would consider them friends. I see Dave at almost every MMA fight, but I don’t want to stir any pots or hint or tease anything.

People get their panties in a wad and say, “Stone Cold, either do it or not.” So, anything can happen, but I’m not going to endorse, promote, sell or tease anything in regards to a match."

How He Would Bring CM Punk Back To WWE: "Man, I don’t know. I haven’t made too much of it. I predicted he would make a comeback at WrestleMania 30 and obviously that didn’t happen. He left the company and whenever he comes back, that’s up to him. I don’t know how I would bring him back. I just know that when I got out of the business for about six-to-10 months, I lost a **** load of money and I believe that if you have got some miles left in the tank, you should make your money while you can and don’t leave it on the table because you’ll never make that money back.

At the end of the day, you can say, “It ain’t about the money.” Well, it is about the money because you need to make as much of it as you can before you can’t make that money anymore.

I don’t know how you bring him back. Certainly the fans would welcome him back because he was doing a great job before he left. And when he gets his head right and wants to come back, I believe he will. As far as me playing Mr. Booker, I don’t have a clue."

Which Current WWE Stars Have The Most Potential: "Man, I think it could be any one of a pool of people. I can’t sit here and drop names because I haven’t paid that much attention to the roster. I’ve been trying to DVR the shows. I am several months behind. I just subscribed to the WWE Network and I watched half of the pay-per-view so far. Just from guys on the radar right now, I think all of the guys from The Shield have got big futures ahead of them. I don’t think they’re all carved in stone yet and there are still some missing pieces within each individual part of The Shield.

Antonio Cesaro still has a hole somewhere in his game, but he’s certainly there. I predict a lot of success for that guy. I think Bray Wyatt is starting to kick ass and do a lot of great things. When they put Cesaro with Heyman, that was an interesting move because there were a lot of people starting to get off on Cesaro, and so they put him with Heyman, which put him back as a heel. The rest of the roster, I don’t know enough about.

Here’s one thing that I will say; I remember watching some of my matches from Dallas on my email, and I was watching them back and I see an athletic body and a guy that’s stable, but the look was just not that great. So there are some guys down there that, as they go through the process and they’re not afraid to embrace making some changes and making some alterations to their gear, to their look to find the right gimmick and package to bring it all together.

Man, there’s probably two or three diamonds in the rough down there because they’re not close to an appearance that is going to be the final thing that actually helps them get over and be received by the crowd as a heel or a baby face."

Jim Ross Blog: CM Punk’s Legacy, WWE Stock, Anniversary Of Owen’s Passing

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights of what JR said about:

WWE’s Stock: “Seems like many members of the IWC have become stock analysts. Where were you when I was evaluating my portfolio? I am NOT a stock analyst but I do honestly feel that WWE stock will eventually, and that’s sooner than later, be a solid, long term investment for those who partake in the market. ”

15-Year Anniversary Of Owen Hart’s Death: “Hard to believe that it’s been 15 years since the most impactful day of my career occurred when Owen Hart fell to his death at the Over the Edge PPV WWE produced in Kansas City. There isn’t a day that seemingly goes by that I don’t think about Owen and that tragic accident in some way. I will never be able to write an autobiography without talking about that night and I dread going back and watching it to be able to better write about it. I have yet to see a single second of footage from that event to this very day. Hopefully, Owen will take his rightful place in the WWE Hall of Fame some day and I can only hope that I am around to see it happen.”

15-Year Anniversary Of Owen HCM Punk’s Legacy “I was asked today by the Chicago Tribune if @CMPunk deserved to be in the top 25 of the all time great wrestlers. I said that all these “All Time Top” whatever lists are overly subjective but my list would be the talents who I would want in my company if I owned a wrestling organization. By the way, that will never, EVER, happen. Nonetheless, I’d absolutely want Punk on my team so therefore under my criteria he’s a top 25 guy. He’s too versatile, too skilled, an excellent hero or villain, can talk, has a great work ethic and is one of the smarter minds I’ve been around. I was also asked if CM Punk abruptly leaving WWE would adversely affect his legacy. My answer, a simple “Hell, no.”art’s Death: “Hard to believe that it’s been 15 years since the most impactful day of my career occurred when Owen Hart fell to his death at the Over the Edge PPV WWE produced in Kansas City.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match

It’s official: At Money in the Bank, a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion will be crowned in the ever-dangerous, multi-Superstar Ladder Match at WWE Money in the Bank.

So far, four competitors have been announced for the all-star affair: Alberto Del Rio, Randy Orton, United States Champion Sheamus and Cesaro.

WWE’s most prestigious prize was officially put on the line when it was revealed on the June 9 Raw that Daniel Bryan would not be medically cleared to compete against Kane on the June 29 pay-per-view and was thus stripped of the WWE World Heavyweight Title.

Though the decision represents a brutally bitter loss for the popular “Yes!” Man, it also means a huge opportunity for the Superstars who will be vying for the championship at Money in the Bank.

Del Rio, Sheamus and Cesaro all won qualifying matches to earn their coveted spots in the match: Del Rio trumped Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus overcame Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett and Cesaro bested Rob Van Dam. WWE’s Apex Predator, meanwhile, was entered into the match by Authority members Stephanie McMahon and Triple H.

Collectively, Del Rio, Sheamus and Orton boast 19 World Championship reigns. Will one of them begin a new reign in Boston on June 29, or will that distinction go to Cesaro or even a participant who has not yet been named to the contest?

Find out when history is made at Money in the Bank! Available on WWE Network and pay-per-view, the huge event takes place Sunday, June 29, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

WWE Money In The Bank :

Money in the Bank (2014) is an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by WWE, It will take place on June 29, 2014 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. It will be the fifth annual Money in the Bank event.

Money in the Bank will feature professional wrestling matches that involved wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines played out on WWE's primary television programs, Raw and SmackDown. Wrestlers portrayed faces (heroes) or heels (villains) as they followed a series of events that built tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches. Unlike previous events, there will only be one Money in the Bank ladder match due to the unified championship. Normally the winner of this match receives a contract that entitles him to a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at any program at the date, place, and time of his choosing within the next year; however, on the June 9 edition of Raw, Stephanie McMahon announced that the match would instead be for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship itself, as champion Daniel Bryan would not be able to defend his championship at the PPV due to injury and was subsequently stripped of the title. On the June 2 edition of Raw, Alberto Del Rio qualified for the match by defeating Dolph Ziggler. On the June 9th edition of Raw, Triple H placed Randy Orton into the match, and Sheamus and Cesaro defeated Bad News Barrett and Rob Van Dam, respectively, to qualify for the match.
