Why John Cena is Missing WWE Raw Monday Night, Does This Change Plans For WWE Battleground Sunday Night?

wwe battlegroundJohn Cena’s name has been officially removed from the advertisements for WWE Raw the night after WWE Battleground. Up until a few days ago,John Cena was still advertised, but he will not be there as he has to be on the set of the Trainwreck movie that he is appearing in.
There are many people who think that this could be a sign of Cena dropping the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on Sunday at WWE Battleground. These same people backstage that Roman Reigns would be the next man up as WWE needs to “pull the trigger” on him and let him carry the championship.
It will be very interesting to see what WWE decides to do tomorrow night from Tampa, the site of WWE Battleground. We also know that Brock Lesnar has been scheduled to return to WWE Raw the following night, so it will be interesting to see how they use him upon his return to hype up WWE SummerSlam in August.
Isenberg:  I find it hard to believe that WWE will give Roman Reigns the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at WWE Battleground.
Personally, I would not mind it, but WWE has already sent out advertisements for Brock Lesnar vs. John Cena for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam and Reigns has been rumored to fight either Randy Orton or Triple H at the big event in Los Angeles.
I would still bank on Cena retaining and WWE finding a simple way to bring Lesnar back to WWE with Paul Heyman on Monday to begin the road to SummerSlam.

John Cena Not Scheduled for WWE Raw Next Week

John Cena Off Raw Next Week

john cenaWWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena is currently not scheduled to be on Monday Night Raw next week, just one night after he defends the title in a 4-way match at WWE Battleground. Cena will be filming “Trainwreck” that night, and is scheduled to be off quite a few live events heading into SummerSlam as well.
KILLAM: This likely won’t effect whether or not Cena will drop the belt. The plan is still Cena vs. Lesnar in August, so it may be an indication that Brock will show up on Sunday and write him off TV briefly.

Did John Cena Retire The World Heavyweight Title On RAW?

Following Monday's episode of WWE RAW, there's been a lot of speculation that the "big gold" World Heavyweight championship belt is being retired.
During the opening segment, John Cena did a hard sell for the WWE Network, told fans there's one major reason to order the Network and held up the WWE Championship belt. Later in the show, after Ric Flair cut a promo, John Cena greeted him on the stage and presented him with the World Heavyweight title. He told Flair to "keep it" and went to the ring with just the WWE Championshipb elt.
Later in the night, JBL made reference to there being “only one title” now.
While it's not official that the World Heavyweight title belt is retired, it's been speculated that WWE will be replacing the two current WWE World Heavyweight Championship belts with an updated WWE Championship belt sporting the new company logo.

Brodus Clay Shares His Thoughts On John Cena

Recently released WWE Superstar Brodus Clay was a guest on The Roman Show and talked about what it was like working with John Cena:

“He is a pro. He comes to work everyday,” he said. "He is straight forward and tells you exactly what it is. One of my things was I didn’t get to work a match with him. I would have dropped the weight I did and keep the muscle I have."

"He is a great leader in terms of he talks it; he walks it. He is the face of the WWE and likely so. He (Cena) gave us all an opportunity to train and have the same training regiment. The training of the NBA and NFL with Olympic lifts for maintenance, for power, better cardiovascular. He was on the forefront. He gave guys an opportunity.”

5 Candidates For John Cena’s Next WWE Feud

Off the back of a fantastic Last Man Standing match against Bray Wyatt at the Payback pay-per-view, John Cena has...

WWE.com

Off the back of a fantastic Last Man Standing match against Bray Wyatt at the Payback pay-per-view, John Cena has once again been solidified as the key player in WWE. Though a large proportion of fans had clamoured for the younger, fresher Bray character to ultimately triumph in the engaging and exciting feud between the two superstars, Cena’s victory means that he will be the man with the momentum going into Money in the Bank and beyond.

Cena’s staunchest detractors often criticise the in-ring ability of a man who has collected a total of 14 WWE Titles and World Heavyweight Championships. Though Cena’s style is not to every wrestling fan’s taste, and certainly does not resemble anything like that of current fan favourite and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan, the leader of the Cenation has been a key component of many of the most memorable matches of the last decade.

It is no secret that WWE’s audience has pretty much always been massively divided in its response and reaction to John Cena’s dominance within the company. It is this division that has created some truly epic atmospheres in main event matches in the last several years. Some of the most hostile and vociferous crowds in modern WWE history have come to life in matches involving Cena. The feud with Bray Wyatt has been no exception.

The fact that Cena is so polarising to the WWE audience makes his feuds and his matches interesting. Whether it be positive or negative, Cena still today draws the biggest reactions from the WWE audience, and this is what makes him such a bankable commodity to WWE. There can be no doubt that Bray Wyatt has benefitted from his programme with Cena, but assuming their feud is now over following Payback, it will be interesting to see how Cena is booked in the coming months.

Will WWE look to cement Cena’s place at the top of the roster by placing him into a feud with another of the company’s brightest stars? Or, similarly to how the Wyatt feud developed, will Cena’s standing in the industry be used to propel one of the company’s most exciting young prospects into the main event?

Here, we look at the five candidates most likely to feud with John Cena next.

5. Cesaro

WWE.com
The ‘King of Swing’ may well appear to be the least likely candidate on this list, especially having only just lost a United States Championship match to Sheamus ay Payback. However, with Cena now potentially freed up, WWE could look to accelerate the push given to the Paul Heyman guy by booking a programme between he and the sure-fire future hall-of-famer.

Speaking of Heyman, how much inspiration could he draw from going up against the company’s undisputed biggest star? The manager, who has been in sparkling form on the microphone and at ringside ever since he returned to the company, would no doubt relish the prospect of duelling with Cena on behalf of the ‘Swiss Superman’.

With WWE having arguably already used Cena relatively charitably during his involvement with Bray Wyatt, the smart money may well be on a more illustrious opponent being placed in front of Cena during his next programme. However, if WWE are as serious about Cesaro’s potential as the early indications have shown, pitting him against Cena for an extended period of time could prove very fruitful in the long run.

Given the momentum that Cesaro has built in recent months, and the widely suspected potential of a face turn somewhere down the line, this is a feud that could be used to very much establish Cesaro as a big time player, whilst also generating a level of interest from fans that would create the traditional crowd division and conflict we have now come to expect from Cena matches. Despite all the possibilities, WWE may well feel that the timing for Cesaro vs Cena is not quite right at this time. That said, do not be surprised to see these two men collide in a high profile feud sooner rather later.

4. Triple H Or Randy Orton

WWE.com
Seth Rollins’ turn on his Shield teammates the night after Payback saw his attacks centred mostly on Dean Ambrose, giving perhaps the clearest sign that he is set for a singles feud with the former U.S. Champion as his next outing.

Following that assault, it was Randy Orton whose attention focused on Roman Reigns as the two remaining Shield members were laid out in the ring. Roman Reigns vs Triple H has been the match rumoured for Summerslam for some time now, but that does not dispel a possible Reigns/Orton programme in the interim. Reigns could well have to go through ‘The Viper’ in order to lock horns with the ‘King of Kings’. Such a scenario would surely free up either Orton or Evolution leader Triple H for a feud with Cena during the summer.

The prospect of another instalment of Orton vs Cena may not sit well with the WWE audience, but such booking may well be what is needed in order to nudge Orton back into the main event frame after the obscurity he has endured since Wrestlemania XXX. Orton was one of television’s most fascinating characters back in his role as the leader of Legacy in 2009 and 2010, but has not managed to hit the same heights since after a succession of face and heel turns. Fans would be glad to see the Orton character regain consistency and prominence if he is able to gather the same momentum he has achieved in the past.

Triple H may be the more popular option to feud with Cena having had credible matches with him in the past, and the feud itself not having been overused. There is also some logic to the possible booking of the feud, with Triple H having already targeted his hostilities towards Daniel Bryan and The Shield and perhaps next looking to undermine WWE’s most powerful babyface superstar.

3. Kane

As was perhaps foreshadowed during the Raw after Payback, Cena’s next feud could well see him go up against the ‘Big Red Machine’ as a precursor to a WWE World Heavyweight Championship programme with Daniel Bryan. Cena’s emergence as Stephanie McMahon discussed the situation regarding Bryan’s injury and the company’s top title was surely relevant and should be seen as an indication of what is to come.

Cena’s confrontation with Stephanie and defence of Bryan saw the boss unleash Kane on Cena, and with Kane set for a title bout against Bryan “should he be able to compete” at Money in the Bank, the booking options surrounding Cena, Kane and the WWE Championship appear to be rather fluid at this point.

If Bryan is deemed unable to complete against Kane at the pay-per-view, we could well see an extended Kane-Cena programme as a consequence. This could manifest as a straight feud or as a contributor to a Money in the Bank Ladder match that could potentially determine the next destination of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

At the time of writing, further interaction between Kane and Cena seems to be the most likely immediate option WWE has available to them. Cena’s strong words to Stephanie during Raw, plus the need for a clear and prominent adversary to The Authority in the absence of Bryan, mean that Cena is likely to find himself in at least a short-term feud with the ‘Devil’s Favourite Demon’. Furthermore, there is the need to build Kane’s credibility as he approaches the title match with Bryan should it proceed, so the prospect of this rivalry ticks a number of boxes and would serve multiple purposes. Though this is a rivalry that should be expected to continue, especially given the conclusion of their match on Raw, its duration and development could well be determined by the timescale of the return of the currently absent WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

2. Brock Lesnar

WWE.com

Since the last thing Brock Lesnar did in WWE was break The Undertaker’s illustrious Wrestlemania undefeated streak, only highest profile booking will do for the ‘Beast Incarnate’ upon his return to the company. In the modern landscape of WWE, and given Lesnar’s current positioning as a heel, the most high profile booking essentially translates as a feud with the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan, or the company’s biggest star, John Cena.

Lesnar and Cena have crossed paths at numerous stages of their careers, the most recent of which took place at Extreme Rules 2012. At that point, Lesnar had only just returned to the company amid amazing fanfare, yet Cena was booked to win the match and overcame the former UFC Champion on the night.

Due to the brief nature of the feuds between the two in the past, another programme between Lesnar and Cena could be interesting, and it would be fascinating to see how the company go about reigniting this feud from a creative perspective. Once again, the Paul Heyman factor would no doubt prove a major contributor to the success of such a programme, such is his ability to enhance a talent or feud at any level of the card.

With Lesnar’s stock in WWE currently so high, his next feud will be absolutely pivotal for both his character and the company moving forward. Many are calling for Lesnar to be given a long run of victories, capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship and ultimately drop it to the likes of a Roman Reigns or Cesaro at Wrestlemania XXXI. Whether WWE would be prepared to engage in one sided booking for such a period of time, especially given the protection they rightly give Cena and the fact the Lesnar is a essentially a part-time attraction, remains to be seen. However, the moment could well be just right for the two to lock horns once again.

1. Daniel Bryan

WWE.com

The writing appears to be very much on the wall for a run of matches between John Cena and the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Daniel Bryan. The inevitability that this is in the pipeline is born from a number of factors. It is fair to say that the most prominent of these factors revolve around Cena rather than Bryan.

It was at Summerslam 2013 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles that Daniel Bryan beat John Cena, clean, to win the WWE Championship, albeit for one of the shortest reigns in history as he was swiftly attacked by Triple H and then the victim of a Money in the Bank cash-in by Randy Orton. Regardless of this, it has not been forgotten that Cena took the loss that night, and it is the belief of many that Cena will ultimately get his ‘win’ back.

Cena has not held the WWE World Heavyweight Championship, or any of its prior variations, for some time now, and the fact the company have kept the title off him for so long could well be another fact that points to a likely recapture of the gold in the near future.

There has also been some intelligent foreshadowing of a potential match between Cena and Bryan on WWE television. During the episode of Raw following Payback, Stephanie McMahon questioned Cena’s defence of Bryan by declaring that Bryan was a ‘B+’ and, more significantly, “not a champion, like you…”. Such lines are rarely used without a purpose in WWE, and the company may well be beginning to subtly pave the way for a Summerslam title match between their top two babyface superstars. It may take some sophisticated booking in the interim, but the feud could well arise as a result of The Authority booking the two against one another in response to their respective rebellion in recent months.

WWE Money in the Bank 2014 rumors: John Cena, Bray Wyatt expected to be added to title match

As we saw on Monday’s edition of RAW, with Daniel Bryan having to relinquish his WWE World Heavyweight Championship after not being medically cleared to compete, a new champion will be determined via a ladder match at the next special event at the end of the month, Money in the Bank.

After the announcement, Triple H announced that Randy Orton would have a spot in the match because, well because he’s Orton and Alberto Del Rio had already qualified on Friday’s edition of Smackdown. Qualifying matches were held on RAW which were won by Cesaro and Sheamus, meaning that there are two more slots to fill.

According to a report from WrestleZone via F4WOnline, the company apparently sees this as a perfect opportunity to continue the feud between John Cena and Bray Wyatt by inserting them into the match as the last two contenders.

According to F4WOnline.com, both John Cena and Bray Wyatt are expected to be added to the upcoming Money in the Bank match for the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Adding both would bring an element of past story-telling to the ladder match, as Wyatt and Cena have faced each other three times at three consecutive PPV events, starting at WrestleMania XXX.

While, yes, theoretically this feud should be over given what happened at Payback with Cena emerging victorious in the Last Man Standing Match, there’s no harm in putting them into this sort of environment where they can lock heads once again.

Plus, you know WWE has to troll the internet by putting Cena into this match, right?

Dean Ambrose Gets Stitches After RAW (Photo), Ambrose-Renee Young Dating?

- As seen on Monday night's edition of RAW, Dean Ambrose suffered a pretty bad cut under his chin during the main event of the show. According to the official WWE website, Ambrose required nine stitches to close the wound. You can check out a photo of Ambrose getting stitched up below.

- Speaking of Ambrose, according to a recent article in the UK-wrestling magazine "Power Slam," Ambrose and WWE interviewer Renee Young may be dating. The publication wrote the following:

"One of our spies spotted Renee 'Young' Paquette and Jonathan 'Dean Ambrose' Good "looking very chummy together" on King Street in Toronto on the afternoon of May 8."

John Cena Suffers Eye Injury

John Cena suffered an eye injury of some sort during his match with Bray Wyatt at the WWE live event on Saturday night.

According to a fan report from the show, the injury took place when Wyatt was delivering multiple headbutts to Cena in the corner of the ring. Whatever happened that caused the injury was serious enough that Cena’s eye was reportedly swollen shut. There has been some talk that Cena may have suffered a possible concussion as well.

As soon as the injury happened, the referee threw up the “X” symbol and trainers rushed to the ring to check on Cena. To Cena’s credit, after being checked out for a bit, he did finish the match.

Below is a photo of Cena being attended to by the ringside medical staff:

WWE World Heavyweight Championship Ladder Match

It’s official: At Money in the Bank, a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion will be crowned in the ever-dangerous, multi-Superstar Ladder Match at WWE Money in the Bank.

So far, four competitors have been announced for the all-star affair: Alberto Del Rio, Randy Orton, United States Champion Sheamus and Cesaro.

WWE’s most prestigious prize was officially put on the line when it was revealed on the June 9 Raw that Daniel Bryan would not be medically cleared to compete against Kane on the June 29 pay-per-view and was thus stripped of the WWE World Heavyweight Title.

Though the decision represents a brutally bitter loss for the popular “Yes!” Man, it also means a huge opportunity for the Superstars who will be vying for the championship at Money in the Bank.

Del Rio, Sheamus and Cesaro all won qualifying matches to earn their coveted spots in the match: Del Rio trumped Dolph Ziggler, Sheamus overcame Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett and Cesaro bested Rob Van Dam. WWE’s Apex Predator, meanwhile, was entered into the match by Authority members Stephanie McMahon and Triple H.

Collectively, Del Rio, Sheamus and Orton boast 19 World Championship reigns. Will one of them begin a new reign in Boston on June 29, or will that distinction go to Cesaro or even a participant who has not yet been named to the contest?

Find out when history is made at Money in the Bank! Available on WWE Network and pay-per-view, the huge event takes place Sunday, June 29, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT.

WWE Money In The Bank :

Money in the Bank (2014) is an upcoming professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by WWE, It will take place on June 29, 2014 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. It will be the fifth annual Money in the Bank event.

Money in the Bank will feature professional wrestling matches that involved wrestlers from pre-existing scripted feuds, plots, and storylines played out on WWE's primary television programs, Raw and SmackDown. Wrestlers portrayed faces (heroes) or heels (villains) as they followed a series of events that built tension and culminated in a wrestling match or series of matches. Unlike previous events, there will only be one Money in the Bank ladder match due to the unified championship. Normally the winner of this match receives a contract that entitles him to a WWE World Heavyweight Championship match at any program at the date, place, and time of his choosing within the next year; however, on the June 9 edition of Raw, Stephanie McMahon announced that the match would instead be for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship itself, as champion Daniel Bryan would not be able to defend his championship at the PPV due to injury and was subsequently stripped of the title. On the June 2 edition of Raw, Alberto Del Rio qualified for the match by defeating Dolph Ziggler. On the June 9th edition of Raw, Triple H placed Randy Orton into the match, and Sheamus and Cesaro defeated Bad News Barrett and Rob Van Dam, respectively, to qualify for the match.

John Cena VS Bray Wyatt

In a matter of weeks, Bray Wyatt injured John Cena, ran down his name and cost him the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. But at WrestleMania 30, the Cenation leader will finally get his opportunity at retribution. To earn vindication, however, Cena must overcome the Superstar who has quickly established himself to be among the most menacing individuals in WWE history.

The battle is a compelling matchup between two diametric forces. In one corner stands the ever-righteous, albeit polarizing, Cena, who has unflinchingly shouldered the burden of being WWE's most conspicuous target. Across the ring will be WWE's most sinister sermonizer, "The Eater of Worlds" who has pegged the Cenation leader as nothing more than a "child afraid of solitude."
According to the self-proclaimed “Man of 1,000 Truths,” the fan-friendly Cena — an upholder of all that is moral and good and right — is simply a plastic smile, a proud but hollow illusion begging to be exposed. Whether or not Wyatt’s cryptic words hold water, this much is true: As a 14-time World Champion, Cena is the unequivocal gatekeeper to WWE’s main event, and anybody who wants to make it to the promised land must go through him.
That list now clearly includes the unapologetic Bray Wyatt.

Along with his monstrous henchmen, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan, Wyatt has made Cena’s life hell in recent months. At Royal Rumble, The Wyatt Family interrupted Cena’s match against WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton, ultimately costing Cena the match. A month later at Elimination Chamber, the Wyatts again prevented Cena from winning an all-important title contest. And on the Feb. 24 edition of Raw, Wyatt formally “introduced” himself to Cena by way of a 3-on-1 attack that left the Cenation leader limping and debilitated by a knee injury.

Wyatt has sworn to bring death to “this era of lies,” beginning with Cena. Will “The Eater of Worlds” do just that when he makes his debut on The Grandest Stage of Them All in New Orleans on April 6? Or will Cena valiantly dispatch the disillusioned cult leader and restore faith in his cause at the biggest event in WWE history? To find out, be sure to watch WrestleMania 30 when it airs on WWE Network.
